How Madinah Prayer Times Are Calculated
Madinah follows the same Umm al-Qura method used across Saudi Arabia. Fajr is set at 18.5 degrees below the horizon, and Isha is fixed at 90 minutes after Maghrib year-round, stretching to 120 minutes during Ramadan, rather than being calculated from twilight the way most other regional methods do. Dhuhr, Asr, and Maghrib are worked out from the sun's position at Madinah's own coordinates.
Why Madinah's Times Differ Slightly From Makkah's
Madinah sits about 340 km north of Makkah, so the sun reaches the same angle at a slightly different clock time in each city, usually a few minutes apart. Compare the two schedules on the same date and you'll usually see a gap of a few minutes.
